Frequently Asked Questions
Health insurance plans cover the unexpected. Most charge monthly premium plus co-pays for doctor visits. If your usage exceeds maximum allowable benefits, you may incur additional costs. However, health insurance protects you from paying the extraordinary costs of medical care required during critical illness or serious injury. When needed, insurance also guarantees you have access to medical care.
DMPOs offer discounts on the costs of health services. Members (i.e., you) pay medical bills at the time of service—but, when you visit a participating doctor (or other provider) you receive care at a reduced cost. DMPOs are not health insurance plans and do not guarantee you access to medical care. Even in the event of extreme illness, DMPO members pay for medical costs—regardless of whether the bill totals $25 or $25,000.
